Saturday, July 9th, our family represented our farm in the annual Sultan Shindig Parade. Our talented son Ben & daughter-in-law, Amanda, built and painted the float towed behind the tractor, featuring produce we grow here at Silver Maple Farm.

Our lovely sister-in-law, Elsa, played the bee, and Ben donned his bee-keeper outfit, while son Joe and fiancée, Candi, handed out dozens of farm brochures to parade watchers.

And what goes together better than peas & carrots? Our grandsons Ethan & Chase. Parade goers laughed and shouted as our carrot zig-zagged to escape grandson-in-law, Dakota’s rake.

Ben & Amanda have no limit of creative ideas. While Ben built the carts, Amanda painted the fruits & veggies, and created a few flying bees with their beehive. Amanda also sewed her strawberry costume and Ethan’s handsome pea vest, and granddaughter Emma dressed like one of the many sunflowers sold right here on our farm. We truly are a family farm!

The only ones missing this year was our daughter Bethany’s family, but they cheered us onward and hope to join us next time. Even so, the rest of us had loads of fun, and to top off the day, we won First Place in the commercial business division!!! The family is already brainstorming ideas for next year’s parade.
