Popular throughout Asia, Shiso, also known as Perilla, boasts a complex combination of aromas and flavors, which include mint, basil, anise, cumin, and citrus. Considered essential in Asian cuisine, Shiso is used to season vegetables, rice, soups, fish, salads, desserts, and drinks. Bright green leaves accented with deep purple undersides make this herb an excellent garnish. And large leaves serve well as sushi wraps.
